Australian Developmental Curriculum
( Play Based Curriculum)

It has come to our attention that some other consultants and staff from other organisations are attempting to host or run professional development sessions on the Australian Developmental Curriculum.

Due to copyright laws and intellectual property laws, no person or organization is permitted to use any aspects of Kathy’s work, book or professional development sessions unless they have been given specific permission directly from Kathy Walker and Associates. Even if the title of the professional development does not use the title Play based curriculum or Australian Developmental curriculum, unless authorised, no person or organisation can base their professional development sessions upon the work Kathy has designed.

This not only protects Kathy’s work it also ensures that any school wishing to introduce the approach is being provided with the correct information based on years of the work Kathy has developed both as an academic and consultant.

Kathy has a vested interest in ensuring that the approach is correctly represented, explained and implemented into schools so that learning and teaching is rigorous and works effectively alongside current Curricula frameworks across Australia.

Any school wishing to implement the approach is encouraged to attend the symposiums that Kathy holds regularly in Melbourne and interstate or to have Kathy and her associates visit the school to explain the approach and provide ongoing support

The first three weeks of the term 4 evening presentation schedule is now available on the presentation page.

Any organisation wishing to host a venue for a series of parent workshops in 2009 please contact bookings ASAP to ensure a booking.

The August Symposium on Developmental Curriculum is now fully booked out. The next available symposium is November 7. Check the website for details and bookings.

Remember that bookings are now open and we have a new initiative that provides rural, regional and metropolitan opportunities for group bookings rather than just single schools or organisations hosting a presentation.

Kathy is in Perth, Darwin and Canberra this term to continue work regarding Australian Developmental Curriculum. It is wonderful to see a return to play based learning in Australia in mainstream schools.

Kathy is currently mentoring a visitor from the Philippines who is being sponsored through the organisation, International Needs Australia. This program and opportunities that Beth has here in Australia will be taken back with her so she can implement some early childhood programs for children who would otherwise miss out on early education. Beth is visiting schools using the play based curriculum, kindergartens and child care centres.

Kathy has been awarded a Fellowship by the Australian Council for Educational Leaders for her leadership in education over many years. Kathy will receive the award in September and it is a great credit to her commitment to early childhood and primary education as well as her work at the tertiary level and her work as a consultant in teaching and learning in the design of the Australian Developmental Curriculum.

The term 3 evening presentation schedule is now up on the website. Feel free to call the contact details if you wish to attend any of the talks
